Certified Peer Support Services

Certified Peer Support Services are person-centered and recovery focused programs that concentrate on education, advocacy, linking, building relations, and creating a natural support system. Services are based in the community and utilize available resources.

Services are provided by Certified Peer Specialists, who are individuals who have self-disclosed that they are living with severe and persistent mental illness. They are certified to assist other individuals with their recovery.

A Certified Peer Specialist models coping skills, fosters resilience, serves as a role model and a source of inspiration for recovery. He or she will assist in identifying an individual’s strengths and needed areas for improvement.

The Certified Peer Specialist plays a key in meeting the goals of the Certified Peer Support Services. Our goal is to work with the individual to identify, focus on, and increase his or her own strengths, coping skills and connect to community and natural supports.

The areas of focus for the Certified Peer Support Services:

  • Community Integration
  • Education
  • Developing Life Skills
  • Hope and Belief in Recovery
